About Allen Elster
Holding a BS in neuroscience and chemistry from Duke University and an MD from Wake Forest University, Allen Elster, MD, has won several awards and recognitions for his talent in the field. He has helped with several publications and has completed research at the PET Center, Cardiac ImageLab, and Advanced Neuroscience Imaging Lab. Certified in CPR and advanced cardiac life support, he completed his internal medicine internship at the University of South Carolina, Greenville Hospital System, and served as a radiology resident at Wake Forest University before starting his current position as an internal medicine resident at Quillen College of Medicine. Dr. Allen Elster sees up to 20 patients per day as a resident and is responsible for everything from updating family members on patient care to writing daily progress notes.
Although Dr. Elster spends most of his time caring for patients at the hospital, he enjoys volunteering with various organizations when he has the time. He spent several weeks in Nicaragua as part of a medical mission trip and assisted with hosting between 10 and 15 clinics in small communities around the capital. He has also volunteered at the Humane Society and with Habitat for Humanity. In his down time, he enjoys trying exotic foods, snow skiing, playing tennis, and hiking.
